Knit Madness Day 10: Sweet Sixteen, Part 2
The divisions start to merge in the second half of the third round.

It only took nine days for one of the polls to end in a tie: When the polls closed, The Wheel of Time and While You Were Sleeping had 25 points apiece. No winner in sight.
Granted, if you look at that poll right this second (1:09pm ET), Rand’s sweater is pulling ahead by three points because Bluesky polls technically never end or close. But I use the same metric for every matchup: The tally/percentage at the 24-hour mark is the one that marks. And while I had an idea for a tie-breaker, I fell asleep before implementing or explaining it, so I opted for a rematch instead. With the Elite Eight kicking off tomorrow, it’s no longer an option I’ll have.
So this is the new rule. In the case of a tie after 24 hours, I will allow votes to come in for one more hour. For example, if this rematch ties again, I’ll check back in tomorrow at 2pm ET, and whatever results are in my screenshot1 will be the winner.

With that said, here’s the rematch!

Recap: Day 9, Sweet Sixteen, Part 1
With that said, the other victors were a little less close. We’re still waiting to see which sweater Only Murders in the Building will face, but the Cables champion will be a lot more contentious: old-school Aran (When Harry Met Sally…) versus new-school Aran (Knives Out).

The Sweater: A cream-colored zippered cardigan with several fish stitched together in black yarn on the front and sleeves. (Not seen: Even more fish on the back.)

(12) A Close Shave
The Sweater: A white turtleneck sweater with pink stripes made from his own wool.

Sweet Sixteen: Cardigan/Neck. (Source: Screenshot)
Cardigan/Neck: (1) Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood (various, all seasons) vs (13) Moonstruck

Credits: Netflix | Prime Video
(1) Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood (various, all seasons)
The Sweater: A green cardigan (likely hand-knitted by his mother) that’s cozy enough to wear at home.
Who Wore It: The singular Fred Rogers, of course. Who’d probably have a lot of thoughts about what’s happening to children’s education right now.
Replica: Yes
Notes: Apropos of nothing, might I suggest watching Fred Rogers’ testimony to the Senate Subcommittee on Education from 1969 when Richard Nixon wanted to cut funding to PBS.
Previously Defeated: (16) The Lake House; (8) The Holiday.
(13) Moonstruck
The Sweater: A ribbed periwinkle cardigan.
Who Wore It: A very disheveled—but still very much a babe—Loretta Castorini (Cher).
Replica: No
Notes: One of the all-time great rom-coms.
Previously Defeated: (4) Dunkirk; (12) Doctor Zhivago.

(2) The Big Lebowski
The Sweater: A tan and brown Westerly zippered cardigan.
Who Wore It: The dudest Dude (Jeff Bridges) to ever dude.
Replica: Yes
Notes: It’s well-known that the Dude’s sweater was actually Jeff Bridges’, but let’s just talk about how he had great taste.
Previously Defeated: (15) Clueless; (7) The Truman Show.
(6) The Banshees of Inisherin
The Sweater: A hand-knitted red collared sweater.
Who Wore It: Pádraic Súilleabháin (Colin Farrell), who’s at the end of an increasingly escalating friendship breakup—and without the ability to subtweet.
Replica: Yes
Notes: I kinda wish the knitted collar was a bigger modification because it just looks cool as hell.
Previously Defeated: (11) Grease; (14) The Lighthouse.
