I don’t know if I chose the most representative sweater of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ with Helen’s green zig zag turtleneck for Knit Madness, but just be aware that there are a lot of worthy contenders from that series. (Source: YouTube)

Ah, the Final Four—and even better, one I really couldn’t have predicted aside from maybe the presence of Twin Peaks, which also happens to be the only series—and yes, the title is officially going to a TV show again with the elimination of the last two films on the list—I’ve actually already seen. If you’ve got stakes in the other three titles, start thinking about what I should watch from it. For All Creatures Great and Small and How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, it’s probably season/series 1 due to the more serialized nature. But my understanding is that Shetland is a little more self-contained, so if that series wins, is there a season that’s particularly sweater-worthy to you?

While this newsletter is coming later than usual thanks to a job fair I had to attend (fingers crossed on that front), I honestly could’ve called these battles yesterday: It’s one of the rare set of matchups that weren’t even close.

Textured/Color Work:
  • (9) All Creatures Great and Small (61.2%) vs (11) The Ballad of Wallis Island (38.8%)

Miscellaneous/Neck:
  • (9) Die Hard 2 (33.3%) vs (11) Shetland (66.7%)

With the fourth round of voting now complete, here’s where we stand.

Matchup: (13) How to Get to Heaven from Belfast vs (1) Twin Peaks

Credits: Netflix | Paramount+

Cables Champion: (13) How to Get to Heaven from Belfast (1×01, “The Wake”)

The Sweater: A green cable-knit sweater

Who Wore It: Saoirse Shaw (Roisin Gallagher), a TV writer who joins two of her friends to attend the wake of the estranged member of their group. Needless to say, it probably doesn’t go as planned.

Replica: No

Notes: Repping Northern Ireland—as well as Lisa McGee’s trademarked comedic chaos.

Previously Defeated: (4) Big Fish; (5) The Bear; (9) Inside Llewyn Davis; (2) Call the Midwife

Holiday/Cardigan Champion: (1) Twin Peaks (2×18, “On the Wings of Love”)

The Sweater: A brown and white Cowichan cardigan

Who Wore It: Margaret "The Log Lady" Lanterman (Catherine E. Coulson), one of the many quirky but extremely perceptive residents of Twin Peaks, Washington.

Replica: Yes (and yes)

Notes: The only American title left in the competition—or would you consider Twin Peaks as spiritually Canadian between the quirky Washington town’s location to the border and the origins of Log Lady’s Cowichan sweater design?

Previously Defeated: (16) A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas; (9) The Mindy Project; (12) Heretic; (11) Project Hail Mary

Matchup: (9) All Creatures Great and Small vs (11) Shetland

Textured/Color Work Champion: (9) All Creatures Great and Small (1×01, “You’ve Got to Dream”)

The Sweater: A green zig-zag turtleneck sweater

Who Wore It: Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton), who might not be a veterinarian but knows her way around farm animals.

Replica: No

Notes: While All Creatures Great and Small’s protagonist is Scottish, the bulk of the series, from what I understand, is situated firmly over the border in Yorkshire.

Previously Defeated: (8) Hunt for the Wilderpeople; (1) Cheers; (4) Gilmore Girls; (11) The Ballad of Wallis Island

Miscellaneous/Neck Champion: (11) Shetland (10×02, “Episode 2”)

The Sweater: A light gray turtleneck sweater with bright green and forest green sections at the bottom and on the sleeves

Who Wore It: Morag McCabe (Leigh Biagi), the wife of Shetland’s police sergeant.

Replica: No

Notes: Repping the northern-most part of Scotland—as well as perhaps the biggest remote hotspot for murder and other assorted crimes since Cabot Cove.

Previously Defeated: (6) The Brutalist; (14) Bugonia; (2) Star Trek: The Next Generation; (9) Die Hard 2
